Welcome To The Dakota Therapy Office

exterior of Dakota Therapy's office

Please allow me to take you on something of a virtual tour from outside the office building and into my office. I have been told repeatedly that my office is calming and peaceful, even for a therapist’s office. I Dakota Baker listening to a patienthope that truth comes across in photos and words, and of course, most importantly, when you come in.

I hope you come to find this is a completely safe environment where you can get away from the world for awhile and work on your personal growth and betterment. As you approach the building from Silver Lake Rd you will park in this lot and enter the door (numbered 1405) on the right as seen in the image above.  If you need handicapped access you can park in the lot behind the building in The Bru House lot.

Dakota Baker at workWhen you come in for the first session there will be the obligatory paperwork to fill out, which we will do there at the desk. I can get some of the documents to you ahead of time, but we will still want to talk about and review them during this first session.  Then we will discuss what brings you in, and what I can do for you.

During the sessions after that you will be offered your choice of places to get comfortable during our session. My office neighbor was kind enough to play the part of the client for the purposes of the photo. She is sitting in the massage chair. As I was becoming licensed as a therapist I thought that it would be a nice touch to offer clients a soothing massage while they are in sessions. You will be shown how the chair works if you wish. It even gives calf and foot massages! Some people find it to be wonderful, and some folks find it to be a distraction to their thought process. Of course if you prefer you can sit on the couch, lay down on the couch, we can sit at the desk, I even have a couple of cushions I use when I teach meditation that we might use.

What I know to be true is that sometimes when a person comes into a therapist’s office they aren’t sure what to do and where to sit. What I want you to know is that, for all practical purposes, it is all about what you want to do, and where you want to sit. I hope that this will all make your trip to my office just a little more pleasant and a little less anxious for you.  Remember, I am here for you, and while you are in my office, it is your place of healing, I’m just renting it.
